Similar

All the way though I could only think of Foamy. Animal with high-pirched voice and a human that gets bossed around by the animal etc.
And going down the Foamy path is not a good thing at all, improving your animation and such a bit more would help steer you in a better direction and also perhaps adding more characters than just those 2. Overall I thought it was good but really made me think too much of Foamy.

danglies responds:

Thanks, we do have quite a few other characters and we'll introduce them probably a lot quicker now that we've discovered how similar Kia is to Foamy.

Too awesome!

I tend to see people make a flash that sucks, then jsut fill it with 100 references and somehow they get good scores. It's made me really start to hate any references at all. But the Naruto parts didn't seem out of place, and super transformation (No golden hair?!) was just awesome. Combo-Breaker is a pretty underused thing so I was glad to see that in there.
But I should be talking about the important thing! The movie itself was incredible! The animation looked flawless (but then it has been nigh-perfect since the first episode) and the killing just keep getting more and more creative! I love all the little details you put in this that truly seperates it from another mindless slaughter-fest flash movie. THe emotions and mistakes the characters make, the effort you can see them using, everything, it's just amazing. You are the king of this genre!

Aaaannnd as unlikely as it may be, I may attempt to create a game version of this using Mugen (seriously, coding in that is crazy easy). Alone I likely won't have any showable progress for like a year. Not because it's hard, but because I'm just that slow. But I have all the knowledge and skill needed so there's no reason why I won't start it.

Mottis responds:

Thanks,
I actually tried making a character for Mugen a loong while ago. My plan was to create a snowball character after I get the hang of how it works, but it got too difficult. I did manage to create a character with walking/jumping animations and 2 punches and 2 kicks that connect with the the enemy and deal damage.

Also, there is already a Bunnykill character for mugen. In youtube I saw white snowball and black version go at eachother with lightsabers. It was pretty neat.

So short!

I liked the style a lot. If you were to make a real animation like this that would be awesome. It was hard to enjoy it when it was so short though.

okay

out of sync. That kinda wrecked it.

yay

This is what I expect someone's first movie to look like. It's too bad I too often see people's 10th movies being worse than this. You look like you could end up a real flash animator soon. Make sure to try and experiment with everything you can and not just stick to one type so that you can become more experienced faster. Right now try to focus on learning rather than making a good movie, then when you know flash fully you can focus on making the movies good and get front page everytime!
Sure seems odd for me to say something nice like this on a movie that wasn't very good, but I think you could become a great flash artist.

midnight-phantom responds:

Thanks dude. That means alot. They already blammed one submission I did, and I did mention that these were for my class. I just wanted to see what people thought. However I need to save some moolah and buy the program and a tablet. There are better ideas than this.

Dang.

I started this very same idea months ago, but like with everything I make it never got finished. So I am glad that someone else decided to. It was pretty well done, but I think you spent a little too much effort on mouth sync and not enough on the actual expressions. But it was good to watch and nicely done!

The-real-iceman responds:

lipsynch is what i do my best at

but yeah, the characters do lack expressions but thank you :)

and all this time i thought someone else was going to do exact same thing because i was so lazy to finish this

Awesome

I remember s eeing Kansuto such a very long time ago. I'd almost forgotten about it. The style you used seems practicaly the exact same and ofcourse the music is too. Though I don't think those pokemon are really very cool, at all, you still made this awesome to watch!
Also I had to cheat to find the 2 easter eggs, but I got them. If they needed you to right-click at all to get them then that's why I could not get them properly. NG disables right-click-play for me...

NCH responds:

u can save the file out and open it on another browser

How it should be.

I expected it, but it was really well done. Ash reduced to ash, I hope most people got that. Hope you do some similar movies like this.

You're right.

The movie wasn't great, but clearly people immediatly voted 0 the second you said anything bad about the Awesome series. Because it is just plain awesome. However disregarding what you said about that you are very correct...though why you made the video an example of the type you dislike I don't get. Should have shown just much better original stuff actually is.

dreftclub responds:

A few months ago ashford pride made a movie with a foreboding title. It was called "Awesome Grounds".

Well ladies and gentlemen, that's might as well what this site should be called (at least right now), with the top row on the front page slot dedicated to an "awesome" movie and an "awesome" parody, an "awesome" t-shirt in the newgrounds store, and pretty much every "awesome" movie in the top 100, along with han's "awesome's creed".

I can't go to newgrounds with seeing something not about egoraptor or his coveted video game parody series. It makes me wonder sometimes if pursuing anything but half-assed cartoons making mildly funny observations about video games laced with profanity is even worth it. Truly, they are what bring the masses of 13-year olds to this site, and thus increases traffic and competition in the internet world. But you have to ask yourself, with this sort of two-bit audience increasing in numbers, are they really interested in watching anything else?

I understand that it's a dog eat dog world in the online entertainment business, and to compete you have to pretty much put up content that a majority of internet browsers would click on. This includes either women or video games. Things they already know they want. And that's all they want. They sign up, watch more, and come back and do it again later. They're trained to know that what they want is easily accessible and is promoted all over the site.

Original content is often shuffled off to the bottom of the page, or never gets any attention to begin with. Now comes into play the whole 'they won't click on it unless there's a boob for the icon', etc etc. That's because they've been fashioned to think that way.

I'm not saying i have all the mysterious answers to the way people's minds work. But this much is true - if all people click on are breasts and video game icons, and you give them breasts and video game icons, you're not pushing the envelope.

Newgrounds is the epitome of user-generated content. We already have a massive advantage over youtube in the fact that making a cartoon involves so much more creativity than snappily editing your webcam footage. So instead of 200 cartoons coming out every minute, we have 200 cartoons coming out every day. That gives someone a better chance of breaking out and being discovered for his hard work, and a reward for a job well done.

But in the same way that viewers are trained that they don't have to go out of their way to avoid original content they would otherwise enjoy, authors are becoming more and more disenchanted with their personal creations and are turning to nerd culture icons and cheap tactics to get viewers.

I can't tell you how many animators I have spoken to that have shunned their own creations in favor of sub-pop culture parody and disjointed scripts sprinkled with toilet humor and profanity. a cartoon catering to everyone who's forgotten what cartoons are all about. And here we are shoving away everything about cartoons that was originally appealing and magical, because we're pretty much forced to.

I'm not pointing the finger at any one person here. I think it's part of the bigger picture - bigger than Newgrounds, too. But if people really care about the future of cartoons and animation, we wouldn't be seeing this kind of blatant favoritism.

People will find what they want if they want it. They don't need to be spoon fed it all.

For thirty years animators who strive to create something genuinely unique have gotten nothing but a slap in the face. It's sickening and it has to stop someday, before they all disappear.

Lastly, this post is not about me. I'm not writing this out of self-pity, bitterness or spite. I'm being honest. I care a lot about the future of animation, and what I see around me is very troubling. The industry is bad enough, but where the future lies is in the small corners of the animation world. Newgrounds is one of them. I spend a lot of time trying to encourage and teach frame-by-frame animation, and creating your own characters and scripts. That is what is important

Not good.

Why did the grown man sound like a kid? Also the voices in general sucked. The random farting was stupid as hell. Graphics were awful and the story...dreadful. And what was it made in? The mouths looked like they were made in flash but everything was so pixely. You could have made something good I think, but this was just bad.

This account and the movies on it are nothing but a bit of an embarassment to me right now. But I don't wanna give up this account to make a new one when it has such a damn nice load of XP. Game maker, Spriter, animator. Not much of a movie maker anymore.
