I'm sorry, but when you give me a tutorial, and yet I am left wondering what the hell I am meant to do, you're doing somthing wrong. I did pick it up quickly though once I realised this was nothing more than one of those MMO browser-based games, but single player and without having to wait 5 RL hours for stuff. It was still not at all fun, and only serves to waste time, just like those other games. But I do thankyou for making it so much faster. I lost after only my 4th battle, never able to make a big army without losing it instantly. Defending, made no sense. I had only begun to play my first wall when the enemies ran past. And why do the enemy have maxed out armies? Everything abotu this game's balance is broken. If it was at least fun and had some skill to it I could've given you a few stars. But this can hardly be called a game, it's an utter waste of time. More so for you than us. You clearly spent MASSIVE amounts of effort to make this, and all for nothing. Knowing how to code is useless if you don't know how to fun. Next time you make a game, SERIOUSLY rethink things. Don't make another mistake like this. I could go on with more flaws, but I've complained too long already. They sure give you a lot of letters for these reviews.

If you're going to disable the ability to change the quality, then don't make the game so graphic intesive that it's unplayable. The first 4 or 5 levels were a little laggy but totalyl playable. The next level went at 1 frame every 3 seconds. There was no option ot let me turn down the quality, so I can't play all the way through.
Also when going down she seem to sometimes go left randomely. I thought I'd have to restart as she just kept walking into a wall, but it eventually fixed itself. She did walk into brambles several times because of that though. Also, would be nice if the camera panning was done with the keyboard instead of with the mouse, makes beign accurate quite hard, makes scoping out the area even harder. It had potential to be pretty good from what I got to play, but has serious issues.

I assure you, quality control would have no effect as it controls anti-aliasing of vector graphics, while graphics in Derpy's Story consist mostly (90%) of bitmap graphics.
You can leave Derpy ay start of each level and scout as much as you want, since she won't hurt herself on her own.

Okay first thing I noticed was that changing the quality ACTUALLY changed the quality of the sprites! This should never happen! You didn't trace-bitmap those sprites did you? That increases filesize and FPS lag a lot.
Anyway I get into the gameplay part, and I try diagonally moving only to find that you're missing those sprites...It looks pretty ugly sliding around like that.
Next issue was that little weakling crap being boss battle level hard. Also several numbers are not in the right font.
Then shortly after encountering it I tried using Aero with 0 mana and the game goes black. Now I can't get back to the fight, or do anything without restarting the page! You've given it a custom right-click menu, but you never thought to put a "return to main menu" or "go to scene select" button in it?!
Going back to the fights, I did not notice any change when Tails got to lvl2. When he got to lvl3 I did see he now had 310 life. I tried healing in the mech battle but it would not let me go past 300... Just to test this a bit more, I cast cure at the start of the battle and it DID 10 DAMAGE TO ME!
Also quite confusingly you have 2 scenes in scene select that cannot be accessed. It is not clear even after you've put the password in that they have become enabled.
The medal "To The Limit" gives no points...
Finally the thing that killed this is that it was not jsut an RPG which is a fine idea, but it was trying to be Final Fantasy and that is just stupid. You do not need to give the characters magic for no sane reason or give them limit breaks either for it to be an RPG.

Dialogue is not bad, though there are typos here and there. I cannot think of anything else that was good in this. Oh but there was one thing that REALLY impressed me! You somehow got this pile of crap a score of 4/5, that is pretty amazing!

I did the final level 3 times over and still only managed to get the book of light (twice annoyingly). As there are 3 light enemies and 1 dark enemy, I really needed thta dark book. Infact it's low drop rate is likely due to the imbalance of enemy elements. Also the fluffpuff enemy which is stronger than the light dragon only gives 4AP when teh weaker dragon gives 5AP.
I also have 1000 gold and yet the most expensive item in teh shop is 300. I was hoping I'd be able to maybe finally buy that dark book, or something absurdy grand, but nope. Another problem with the shop is that it does not tell you which items are equipped where, so you might replace something you did not want to when buying something new. Sure I can just sell it back, but now I've wasted money.
Worse part of the entire game though? The character moves SO SLOW. Or at least it feels that way. Why did you make it go all the way around the other side of the object before opening it? It'd make more sense to have it open it from the other side. There should also be a way to repeat boss battles as they are the only challening and fun ones. The normal battles only ever took me 1 or 2 hits, even early on.

However you have a good game here otherwise. I do not think it'd be hard to give it an update removing a few flaws and adding a little more content, which would then make it a GREAT game. But for not it is only GOOD.

using Firefox 11. I got no medals. I beat teh game twice, second time with all the awesome cheat modes on, butI got no medals at all.
This game was damn simple, really damn simple, and very short. It's odd that I like it so much, but the story was just so lovely. It was a nice little game to play, though even with the cheat modes I doubt I'll want to play it again ever. The only good part is the story, and once you finish it you know the story. Though you did get me to play it twice, so for such a simple game that's quite an achievment. I hope future games from you have this same lovely storyness to them, but also have more gameplay.

krangGAMES responds:

Thanks so much for providing your browser info! I'm looking into fixing the cheats now, hugely appreciate the help :) Anyway, glad you like the game, especially for what it is. It's not made for epic replayability or to be a game you play every day, but it's meant to tell a nice little story.

Started playing a few hours ago. I now have all the achievments. I was not expecting to enjoy this game so much as it was fairly repetetive. But every mission had surprises, the way the enemy ships appear is always unexpected and well planned. I liked that I could pick a different missio when one got way too hard. You need more difficulty labels, as many medium ones were at least twice as hard as other medium ones. I wish I'd known how easy the Arena was for making quick cash. The upgrades were all great. However, the regen one made me pretty much unkillable. I was on the or minig mission and I never shot a single bullet, i just crashed into every single rock trying to kill myself. I couldn't, it's actually not possible. So although it got pretty darn easy suddenly, the last few missions still proved to be somewhat challenging. I'd say the difficulty was, though chaotic, pretty balanced. Great game! I almost forgot to mention the story, which was very engrossing. Every mission made me feel like I had made a real change, that I had really done something to affect the lives of others. I did not think I could possibly become immersed in a retro looking shooter like this, but I was. The graphics and music were not over the top amazing, but they were enjoyable and gave a very nice effect. This game is so very flawless.

When I practice one of the training games, it makes me lose a day even though it doesn't count. Trainer battles are stupidly easy. They are impossible to lose. Fighting Draiga as a trainer battle is also stupidly easy. I think your level-up code is totally broken with those matches. The random enemy encounters though seem to always make enemies that are level 15 and such. Absurdly overpowered. They also give strangely low stats boost and no money or exp, even though they are so hard and need activity points unlike the other trainings. Activity points end up being useless very quickly, they need more uses. There should also be another shop for players that get to gold level or higher. This second shop should have all those better items only your monster can find. It's so SLOW to buy 10 +2 status items over and over again. I have so much money, Let me buy 5 +5 to all status items instead. It'll be so much faster. Also the English in this game needs a lot of work.

One would expect a game like this to have a quality reduction button. It's very laggy on my PC and I have no way of resolving that. Please take into account that not everyone has high-end PCs. The game is good though. I like that you chose not to use words, it makes this a game anyone from anywhere can enjoy.

Pigsels responds:

We have added quality control into the game, you can cycle through available levels with "Q" button in top right corner. Hope, now you can play it comfortly on your PC : )

Bugged on level 2...

Was having fun and it was looking good. Way too simply though with too few turrets. Also placing them was the most time consuming part of this. It was just really tedious. Just 1 pixel off and I don't get that speed bonus from the ballista. The placement system really stopped this game from being better as did the far too few structures and turrets. But the fact that I was unable to repair my castle at all on level two really ruined it. I had no choice but to spam farms and hope.

Nice game

I was playing it an enjoying it. Then I got to the last level and obviously I was missing a block... The first one. And as you have no level select option I was forced to replay the game all over again. This time I already knew what to do so it was not very fun. I also managed to die for the first time, get teh yellow blocks stuck for the first time and generally I had a really bad time as I just wanted to finish quickly and not have to go through all this again. By the time I got the the real end I was pretty irritated with the game. I could have liked this a lot more if you had a level select. I feel cheated for not being given any clue to that level 1 thingy and then not realise until I completed the whole game I needed it. Please do not use tactics like that to extend gameplay. It was a good game otherwise, even if very simple.

This account and the movies on it are nothing but a bit of an embarassment to me right now. But I don't wanna give up this account to make a new one when it has such a damn nice load of XP. Game maker, Spriter, animator. Not much of a movie maker anymore.
